Never mind whatever happens in life, as long as your intentions are good

I had encountered the phrase, 'No matter, never mind,' in a podcast featuring Keshav Nepal Sir as a guest speaker. Here, I aim to explain my understanding of this phrase: When your intentions are good, whatever life throws at you, never mind, because it will eventually lead to something valuable or teach you a valuable lesson.

Steve Jobs once said, 'You cannot connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect the dots looking backward.' In this context, 'dots' represent significant moments of your life. It's only when you look back at these moments then you can truly understand their meaning. These moments hold the answers to your questions. If you haven't found the answer yet, the present or future 'dots' might provide the answer. So, never mind what's happening now; just ensure you hold good intentions in everything you do.

However, the real challenge lies in having good intentions. Everyone believes their actions have good intentions from their perspective. To evaluate these intentions, we should filter them through the core values. For Example:

1. Beneficence (Doing Good):

  • Prioritize actions that promote the well-being and happiness of others.
  • "Is your action benefiting someone or making a positive difference?"

2. Non-Maleficence (Avoiding Harm):

  • Avoid causing harm or suffering to oneself or others.
  • "Could your action potentially cause harm to anyone, and have you taken steps to prevent harm?"

3. Honesty and Transparency:

  • Be transparent and committed to telling the truth in all actions and communications.
  • "Are you being completely honest and transparent in your words and actions?"

4. Empathy and Compassion:

  • Understand and care about the feelings and well-being of others.
  • "Have you considered the feelings and needs of those affected by your actions?"

5. Accountability:

  • Take responsibility for one's actions and their consequences.
  • "Are you willing to take responsibility for the consequences of your actions?"

6. Long-Term Considerations:

  • Consider the long-term consequences of actions, aiming for sustainable and positive outcomes rather than short-term gains.
  • "How will your actions affect the future well-being of individuals or the environment?"
